A recent network security incident caused disruption to some of Davis Instruments’ (“Davis”) operations. The incident does not appear to have affected any customer systems or operations. At this time, Davis has not determined that any customer data was compromised.
While the investigation remains ongoing, Davis can confirm that the incident was the result of a ransomware attack. Our backup and recovery solutions performed well and enabled a nearly complete restoration of all systems and data. At this time all Davis systems have been restored and are functioning normally.
At the time the incident was discovered, Davis immediately began countermeasures to contain the incident, and servers were taken offline. Davis technical teams working alongside professional incident response teams and forensic investigators began restoring core services and analyzing the threat profile of the incident. Davis is confident that the entry point used to gain access to its systems has been closed and its systems are secure.
At this time Davis cannot speak to the motive or motives of the threat actor, other than to confirm their actions were an orchestrated ransomware attack. Davis has paid no ransom, nor complied with the extortion demands of the threat actor.
Davis is proceeding carefully and methodically to complete its investigation. At this time there is no indication that customer data was compromised, or that customer operations were impacted. This page will be updated as more information becomes available.
