How does the Vantage Connect work?

The Vantage Connect makes your weather station into a GSM-based weather station. It is solar-powered and self-contained. It receives real-time weather information that could affect your production from your Vantage Pro2 or Vantage Vue sensor suite, such as freezing temperatures, heat, wind, rain, and ET via radio transmission. It then uploads the data to the WeatherLink Cloud via cellular communication, so you can view it from anywhere and at any time. It uses solar power and a battery backup which makes it perfect for remote locations.

How often does the Vantage Connect upload data?

The Vantage Connect collects and uploads weather data using GSM for weather station technology. You can have it upload data in 5, 15, or 1-hour intervals, depending on the service plan you choose. This means you can keep up with changing conditions like high winds, rapidly dropping temperatures, or heavy rains. The data is uploaded to the WeatherLink Cloud where you can view it using any connected device -- your smartphone, tablet, or home computer -- from anywhere. All you have to do is to log in to, and you can see the data you need to make critical decisions.

Where can I use a Vantage Connect?

The Vantage Connect is a GSM-based weather data collection device that uses cellular technology to upload data to the cloud. It is designed for remote locations and uses a 5-watt solar panel for power. It also has a 6-volt rechargeable battery backup for low-light days and night data collection. You can also add an extra solar power kit and AC charger to the system.

The Vantage Connect is in a weather-resistant shelter that is designed to protect the electronics. Depending on your site and needs, you can use either a pole or tripod mounting system. You can use either wireless or cabled Vantage Pro2 or Vantage Vue sensor suite.

Because it uses GSM standard communications, you can operate it outside the US on services that use 2G and 3G connections. The system is compatible with Windows XP and for iPhone and Android devices. These options make the system versatile and suitable for a number of conditions.
