Washington, DC (Jun 23, 2016)--We’ve been planning this for about a year, but today was finally the day. We are excited to announce our brand new personal weather station is up and running on the roof of The Washington Post!
The weather station hardware is a Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus, which includes sensors for temperature, dew point, precipitation, wind speed and direction, UV and solar radiation. It includes a radiation shield and a fan, which help to keep the temperature measurement closer to reality on days when the sun is really beating down. Before next winter, we will be adding the rain bucket heater, which will melt down ice and snow so that we can get a rough idea of how much frozen precipitation is falling.
