Add a Second Stand-Alone Soil Moisture Station for Distant Fields
Use this station to collect irrigation information and evapotranspiration (ET) readings in field locations away from your agricultural remote weather system set-up. Great for monitoring in-field soil moisture readings and dramatically improving your irrigation decision-making. Soil moisture sensors track soil tension. Readings greater than 100 indicate the onset of stress due to the lack of plant-available water. Our recommended configuration for remote irrigation management applications includes Vantage Connect with a 15-minute data update service plan; a soil moisture/temperature station; three soil moisture probes; one soil temperature probe and a mounting pole kit for easy installation. For deeper rooted crops, such as wine grapes or nut trees, we recommend installing four soil moisture probes with the deepest at four feet.
Real-time data
Soil moisture and temperature data is transmitted every 15 minutes for near real-time monitoring of soil conditions with clear indication of the effect of recent irrigation or rain events.Real-time alerts
Get alerts on critical conditions delivered to your smartphone or email.Free weather apps
See your data on your smartphone with our free app for iPhone or Android.Analyze your data
Easy-to-view soil moisture charts in the WeatherLink Software helps keep your irrigation water and fertilizer available to your plants, not running off.Get data from several soil depths
Support for up to four soil moisture sensors and four temperature probes.Add leaf wetness sensors for more data
If leaf wetness data is also important to your crop, the station has inputs for two leaf wetness sensors.Get data from any remote site with cellular coverage
Data is transmitted from the sensors to the Vantage Connect, mounted up to 1000 feet (300 meters) away. From there it is communicated via cellular connection to the web.Accurate frost forecasting and monitoring prevents delays. We used forecast rules before this, which were fairly good, but now we can monitor in real time for even better results.
