Case Study: Co-Alliance Helps Farmers Increase Crop Yield
Co-Alliance is one of the largest agribusiness and supply cooperatives in the Midwest. A 100% farmer-owned partnership of local co-ops, Co-Alliance has installed a network of over 200 Davis weather stations that cover 2.3 Million acres.
Co-Alliance has roots in the community extending back to the 1920s and continues to grow with the needs of its members. In order to give the farmers what they need — hyper-local, accurate, real-time weather information — to make better decisions on their farms, Co-Alliance has installed a network of Davis weather stations, with installations every five miles, each communicating via a cellular network. With this network in place, Co-Alliance members get current in-field weather information, forecasting, and historical data online through their DataOnTouch™ and WeatherView™ apps.
Informed Decisions
Localized sensors installed in the fields offer hyper-local, real-time data for better decision-making.Determine Best Time to Spray
Accurate and reliable wind data--how fast and which direction the wind blows--makes it easier to know when to spray crops.Manage Water and Nitrogen Resources
With the use of localized soil moisture sensors in conjunction with soil temperature probes, Co-Alliance helps members determine nitrogen and water needs.Increase Quality and Yield
Quality and yield of crops increase with Davis sensors' and stations' real-time, accurate data. This data is critical to decision-making.The farmer’s factory doesn’t have a roof; weather affects everything they do.
